About
I create websites using WordPress that build credibility and trust, connect with your audience, and effectively communicate your message. I focus on being efficient and thorough. But there’s more to the story: I love to tackle more challenging projects, exploring innovative ways to leverage WordPress to solve complex problems. Some of our projects include creating a Zoom video dashboard, video production, managing digital assets, and analyzing data from Internet of Things (IoT) devices. For instance, in a recent project for the Research Institute of McGill University HEalth Centre, I developed a custom plugin that gathered user data from the Fitbit API, processed it through an algorithm, and generated personalized messages. What innovative project would you like to explore?
“I have often patted myself on the back for hiring John Dowling. An experienced journalist and web designer, he built our person-centered web resource for women with gestational diabetes. He created a compelling layout, filmed video clips and capsules, and helped us built a compelling multimedia resource. He also worked with us to navigate the challenges of secure data collection and management, across wearable and home-based devices. John has been an essential team member and we look forward to continued work together.”

I originally studied journalism at Concordia University. During the first dot-com boom, I co-founded Griffintown Media, a marketing communications company in Montreal. Our work spanned various projects, including web development, corporate newsletters, e-learning materials, retail packaging, and corporate videos. After a brief 15-year hiatus working in the equestrian industry, I returned to web development in 2018 as a web programmer for the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre. I am now working as a freelancer. I’d love to discuss how I can contribute to your projects. Let’s get in touch!
